A “Hammer-In” is a gathering of blacksmiths and those interested in blacksmithing. There will be  demonstrations throughout the day by master blacksmiths, food, tailgate sales of blacksmith supplies and tools, and a grand Iron-in-the-Hat raffle to top it all off.

This will be the third Hammer-in at BCC, and should be the best yet! The theme this year is Historical Bladesmithing.

  • Wootz Melt –Peter Swarz-Burt
  • Viking Style Pattern Welding / Forging a Seax Blade – Matthew Parkinson
  • Sword cutting Demonstration

The $20 admission includes a hotdog lunch and an Iron-in-the-hat raffle ticket, so bring your appetite and something for the raffle. Tail gate sales are encouraged and free with your admission.  This year we will be following up Saturday’s Hammer-In with an all day open forge session on Sunday 10am – 5pm, where you can come and get some hammer-time. This session is included in your Hammer-In admission price, or $20 if you do not attend Saturday’s festivities.

This is a great family or father/son day out with a chance to see a lot of different skills practiced by experienced smiths.
