Weaving Basics w/Christine Aulicino

Starting July 5, 2011–This workshop is an introduction to the basics of weaving. Using a portable 2-heddle loom (bring your own or purchase one from us), you will learn how to set up a loom with the warp and how to make a plain weave piece in mixed textures or colors. The first project will be a sampler and you will probably be able to complete two projects.

More Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner: Sketching Techniques

Saturday, July 9 (9:30am – 12:30 pm) with Claire Watson Garcia. Everyone can enjoy learning how to use this loose and spontaneous style of drawing. Absolutely no prior art experience is required! Learning to sketch is a joy in itself, however the sketching line is also an accuracy tool. Learn how to use it to design and conceptualize your work in “try out” form before you commit to larger 3-D work with more costly materials.

Introduction to Mosaics w/Cynthia Fisher (June 25, 2011)

In this introductory 2-day workshop, students will learn how to create a small mosaic panel. The main focus is the indirect method where the mosaic is assembled on a temporary substrate of contact paper, then adhered with a trowel to a cement backerboard panel. Registration closes June 16.
