As a benefit of your Brookfield Craft Center Membership, you are entitled to at least one* free Members Only Mini Workshop, and some have already been scheduled. These workshops are for experimenting, making mistakes, trying something new, and, most importantly, having fun. You might just find your next artistic calling, but you will never know unless you give it a try! These two-hour workshops are held periodically throughout the year in a medium of your choice.

Please reserve your space in a workshop through our online reservation page, or by calling 203-775-4526. If your desired workshop is not yet scheduled or you cannot attend a scheduled workshop, please contact us with your availability.

* Individual, Youth and Senior Members can reserve 1 space per membership year. Family, Friend, Supporter and Benefactor Members can reserve 2 spaces.

JEWELRY

Learn about form, function and design in the jewelry studio. Use cabochon jewels as inspiration to brainstorm  your own jewelry designs. Learn how simple construction techniques are accessible to beginner-level students.

CERAMICS

Get your hands around a ball of clay and learn about some of the many methods of shaping pottery. Learn how to approach hand building and wheel throwing ceramics as a true beginner.

METAL

Take a turn swinging a hammer in our forge and learn how steel is heated and shaped. You will walk away with fundamental knowledge of the process of blacksmithing, and what to expect as a student in an introductory class.

GLASS

Get to know the glass studio at Brookfield Craft Center  and learn the process of heating and cooling glass to make translucent art. Learn about torches, annealing ovens and the techniques that will prep you for a beginner glass class.

FIBER

Take time to learn how handmade textiles are designed and made. Learn about the qualities of different fibers and how looms are set up and used to create delicate patterns. Take a turn at weaving weft through warp and contribute to a piece woven by you and your classmates.

WOODTURNING

Learn how to approach woodturning in our state-of-the-art studio. Understand how wood is selected for a project, and how reductive techniques transform a block to a form. Get to know the feel of a lathe and take a turn making a pile of long shavings on the floor.
