Larry Livolsi found his calling at 19 on a biking trip through Long Island, where he came upon several Czechoslovakian men blowing glass. They invited him in, he tried it and was immediately hooked. Today he creates a vast assortment of pieces, from ornaments and vases to architectural elements like screens and tiles, in his studio in Morris, Connnecticut. His reputation as a master glass blower and sculptor is based on his dramatic, large-scale sculptures that blend blown glass and steel. “I love mixing something so fragile with something so strong.” Among his best-known works are those created for the 1980 Winter Olympics, Donald Trump’s Castle Casino and Longwood Gardens.
